A shift in market sentiment Verge (XVG), a privacy coin, has increased more than 500% over the past week, according to data from CoinGecko. This significant increase is part of a broader trend where older cryptocurrencies, referred to as “dinosaur coins,” regain attention and value in the crypto market. First introduced in 2014, verge gained popularity during the bitcoin-driven bull run of 2017. Its unique selling proposition is providing a fast, efficient, and privacy-focused blockchain for transactions. However, in recent years, newer and trendier tokens have overshadowed verge and similar cryptocurrencies. It’s worth noting that Binance, the world’s largest centralized crypto exchange, recently reversed its decision to delist several privacy coins, including XVG, in...

XRP price searches for a fresh bullish catalyst to trigger a move above $1

Image
XRP price rallied in excess of 100% after Ripple’s victory last week, but do fundamentals support a move to $1 and beyond? XRP (XRP) price booked an incredible 100% gain on the same day as the landmark ruling in the XRP securities case, but buyers are now struggling to hold on to these gains.  The price surge came after judge Analisa Torres of District Court of the Southern District of New York ordered that XRP sale to retail investors does not qualify the token as a security in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) case against Ripple. While the trading interest in XRP is reviving, the technical and network usage data hint at a short-term pullback. Traders flock to XRP but network growth stalls According to Coinglass data, the open interest volume for XRP futures contracts, which represents the total value of open bets for the asset, surged to its highest point since November 2021, reaching $1.19 billion on July 20. Price analysis 7/17: SPX, DXY, BTC, ETH, XRP, BNB, SOL, ADA, DOGE, MATIC

Bitcoin bulls have failed to step in, increasing the chance for a retest of the $29,500 support. Bitcoin (BTC) remains stuck inside a narrow range, making it difficult to predict the direction of the next possible breakout. The United States dollar index (DXY), which generally moves in inverse correlation to Bitcoin, dropped below 100 but that has failed to propel Bitcoin higher. This suggests that Bitcoin is charting its own course in the near term. Therefore, the earnings season from big companies this week may sway the U.S. equities markets but may not have the same effect on Bitcoin. It is becoming increasingly difficult to pinpoint the event or the news flow that will cause Bitcoin’s price to escape the range. Daily cryptocurrency market performance. Pepecoin (PEPE) vs. Dogecoin (DOGE): Is a flippening on the horizon?

Image
PEPE quietly pulled off a 100% rally earlier this week, raising questions on whether the frog-themed memecoin will become a serious Dogecoin competitor. A few months ago Pepecoin came and went, bringing quick, unimaginable riches to early investors and turning latecomers into reluctant bag holders. While the chart resembles the standard crypto pump-and-dump scheme, Pepecoin’s (PEPE) price action this week suggests that the frog-themed token could be the newest contender to Dogecoin (DOGE) in the memecoin sector. Dogecoin has dominated the memecoin space for years. Many copycats of dog-themed tokens, like Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Floki (FLOKI), have challenged DOGE’s position over the years but eventually faded. SHIB briefly surpassed DOGE in market capitalization after rising 1,000% to a peak valuation of $41.1 billion on Oct. 28, 2021. At the time, Dogecoin’s market capitalization was $31.5 billion. However, the near-vertical rally faded in the following weeks, and Dogecoin reclaimed i...

‘Bitcoin only’ buy-and-hold investment strategy outperforms altcoins over the long term — Analysis shows

Image
Historical data shows that apart from a few times since 2015 when altcoins outperformed BTC, a ‘Bitcoin only’ investment strategy has fared considerably well. Altcoins offer diverse, innovative features, promising technological advancements, and potentially lucrative investment opportunities. Many-a-time specific altcoins post handsome gains that surpass Bitcoin (BTC), popularly known as altcoin season. However, K33 Research analysis shows over the long-term, ‘Bitcoin only’ has been a better investment strategy than an altcoin portfolio. Altcoin portfolio underperformed Bitcoin over the long run Bitcoin has had three consecutive bull and bear market cycles, starting in 2013 with the latest one coming in 2021. In each cycle, Bitcoin’s price rose parabolically in a very short span, usually a few months, after surpassing the peak of its previous cycle. In 2013, BTC peaked around $1,175 and after that followed a downtrend for two years. At the time, the altcoin market was in its nascent ...

Crypto investment products experience outflows for 9th consecutive week

Image
Meanwhile, the altcoin price crash triggered inflows for XRP, Cardano and Polygon. On June 19, European cryptocurrency investment firm CoinShares published its “Digital Asset Fund Flows Report,” revealing that cryptocurrency investment products experienced out flows totaling $5.1 million last week. The out flows contributed to the continuation of a nine-week streak of out flows , resulting in a cumulative total of $423 million. Weekly crypto asset flows. Source: CoinShares The report noted that despite this downward trend, there was a glimmer of hope toward the end of the week, as news emerged that BlackRock, one of the world’s largest asset managers, had submitted an application for a Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded product (ETP) in the United States. This development resulted in minor inflows; however, they were not significant enough to offset the earlier outflows observed during the week. As a consequence, the streak of outflows persisted. Examining the regional breakdown, the ...
