2010's $41 Bitcoin Pizzas Are Worth $267 Million Today

There are a host of special days commemorated by people from the crypto space. April 1, for instance, is one of the most awaited days as community members get to play around with their puns and toss unrealistic predictions on account of April Fools’. April 20, or 4/20 has its own significance. On one hand, it is the day celebrated by cannabis smokers. On the other, it is also DOGE Day—a day quite significant for people from the ‘meme army.’ Likewise, May 22, or Bitcoin Pizza Day is another event that is exclusively celebrated by the community year after year. The Bitcoin Pizza Day Backstory Thirteen years back, Laszlo Hanyecz, a Floridian programmer bought two pizzas and paid for them in Bitcoin. The transaction was, notably, the first-ever recorded real-world crypto transaction. In the Bitcointalk.org forum on 18 May 2010, Hanyecz wrote that he planned to use BTC to buy pizza, preferably two large ones. He was ready to shell out 10k Bitcoin to anyone who could place the order and ...

How Does the U.S. Debt Ceiling Affect Bitcoin and Risky Assets?

The United States reached its $31.4 trillion statutory debt ceiling on Jan. 19, 2023. The development justifiably raised a lot of questions among investors and policymakers. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said she would take “extraordinary measures” to help the government meet its obligations for at least five months. However, that was in January, almost three months ago. Part of the crypto community is worried about how the U.S. Debt Ceiling would affect Bitcoin (BTC) and the digital asset market. So let’s take a look. The U.S. Debt Ceiling is the maximum amount that the government can borrow to meet its financial needs. Therefore, the Treasury is not permitted to issue any additional bills, bonds, or notes after the cap is reached. Yellen claimed that without raising the ceiling, the government could only pay its obligations into early June 2023. However, others have predicted that the government will run out of funds and borrowing options sometime in the third or fourth quarter ...

Here's How April's CPI Data May Affect The U.S. Dollar and Bitcoin

Image
Since early March, Bitcoin (BTC) has seen increased buying, with prices jumping from around $20k on 11 March, to $28.3k at press time. Nonetheless, the CPI (Consumer Price Index) data for the month of March, due on April 12th, may bring in some fresh volatility for the crypto market. The Federal Reserve will also release the minutes of its latest FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting. Although markets want to see a faster inflation decline, their view seems to diverge from that of the Fed. Although market sentiment indicated that rate increases will likely not last for very long, the Federal Reserve is still hawkish. As per the data from CME Group’s FedWatch tool, the Fed will likely repeat its 0.25% hike. Furthermore, according to analyst James Choi, the upcoming CPI data will set dollar strength on a three-month freefall. Choi stated, “People seem to have no idea how the $USD $DXY will fall in the next 3 months.” However, Bitcoin (BTC) may have something to gai...

Exclusive: Bitcoin Might Crash Hard After Reaching $30,000, Says Analyst

Image
Bitcoin touched a high of $28,504 on Tuesday and briefly retraced in price towards the $27,750 level. BTC went from a low of $20,000 to $28,000 in less than two weeks, making it a prime investment in the markets. However, leading altcoins and meme coins failed to join the bandwagon and they were mostly up by a bit in the market, except for Ethereum which went from $1,400 to $1,800. Both BTC and ETH rallied in the last two weeks despite the banking crisis that rocked the global stock markets. Financial expert John Squire, the partner at Ojamu, an AI & Blockchain-powered platform, spoke exclusively to Watcher Guru about Bitcoin’s recent rise. According to Squire, Bitcoin’s recent rise could be artificially inflated and is a bull trap in the making. He warned investors to remain cautious as BTC could drop hard after it reaches $30,000 next. Quantitative analyst Plan B claimed on Twitter that Bitcoin is better positioned now than ever to experience a price explosion. The cryptocurrency analyst predicts massive growth for BTC and forecasted that the king coin could reach $1 million by 2025. According to Plan B, Bitcoin has bottomed out and could no longer head back to the $16,000 levels that it fell in 2022. Plan B is known for its stock-to-flow Bitcoin model, and predicts an asset’s value by comparing its current price with respect to the supply. Also Read: Bitcoin To Reach $30,000 in February 2023? The analyst predicted that Bitcoin could reach $32,000 in the next leg and gradually scale up in the market. He stated that it would take nearly two or three years for BTC to explode and reach $1 million in price. His time frame for the prediction is 2025. “BTC bottom is in, 2024 halving >$32k, 2025 bull market >$100k” scenario could look like this. Note the $100k-$1m yellow range estimate fo...
